Deek Magazine - The Manifesto Incident

The Manifesto Incident was designed as a return to our roots in dirt, sex and violence but with increased production values. It was also about the power of words and ideas. So we put a heavily tattooed chick with an axe on the cover and floated her image over the blurred, layered content of the entire issue. Everything you'd get from Deek was right there on top.
Classic adhesive labels were used for titles on content. These were scanned rather than rendered through digital type to get the desirable abberations and sloppiness.
Photography was shot in the backyard of my house. Too distracted by the nude, busty and ambiguously ethnic girl with a scythe standing there, I didn't think to put anything under the TV we were smashing to catch the broken glass. We dug up the lawn and resodded it the next day. You may not see her images in this issue but we put them to good use in the Sex Incident the following year.
Additional layout design by Doug Crissman and Bob Revay.
